Comparison of the complement fixation test and the indirect hemolysis test for cattle vaccinated and infected with Brucella abortus.
The complement fixation test (CFT) and indirect hemolysis test (IHLT) were applied to sera collected from 60 cattle challenged with Brucella abortus 544. Of the 60 cattle, 48 were vaccinated with either B. abortus 19 or B. abortus 45/20 as calves or as adults. The remaining 12 cattle were not vaccinated. Of the 27 sera from cattle found to be infected, 9 showed aberrant reactions to the CFT. Th...
full textNew Brucella abortus S19 Mutant to Improve Distinction Between Infected and Vaccinated Animals
Background: Using Brucella abortus Strain 19 (S19) to control bovine brucellosis is restricted due to induce antibodies to the O-side chain of the smooth lipopolysaccharide (LPS) which may be difficult to differentiate vaccinated and infected animals. Furthermore, it is virulent for humans and can induce abortion to cattle. Objectives: The aim of...
full textSerological differentiation of Brucella-vaccinated and -infected domesticated animals by the agar gel immunodiffusion test using Brucella polysaccharide in mongolia.
To investigate Brucella infection in cattle, sheep, goat, reindeer and yak in Mongolia, serological reactions of Brucella-infected and -vaccinated domestic animals were compared by the agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test with a polysaccharide (poly-B) of the B. Abortus strain S-19. The sensitivity and specificity were compared with conventional serological tests that are commonly used in Mongo...

Res., 36 (2) , 191-1 98, 1969. The CF test was used to investigate the serological relationship of Br. avis to Br. abortus and Br. melitensis. A definite antigenic relationship between Br. avis and Br. abortus could...
full textThe Assessment of Cytokine and Antibody Responses to Recombinant 31kDa Brucella Cell-Surface Protein in Brucella Abortus Infected Mouse Model
Background & Objective: One of the most common diseases between zoonosis - especially in developing countries – is brucellosis. Identification of Brucella cell antigen combinations in terms of the amount and type of immune response in infected hosts, are important in vaccine design. 31kDa Brucella cell surface protein (BCSP31) is shared among all Brucellae. We aimed to define specific immune r...
